WinRAR Windows 7 Theme 32x by muckSponge WinRAR Windows 7 Theme 32x by muckSponge
This theme replaces the default WinRAR icons with new Windows 7 styled ones. It also blends in perfectly with Vista as there are virtually no differences between the icons.

A readme is included for installing the exe icons.

These icons are 32x32 in size. If you would like larger ones visit my other deviation: [link]

Has been updated to no longer include the exes, as these were being reported as viruses.

Enjoy :)

Maybe, one day. Didn't know about the theme manager so I may look into it some time, and if I do, I will probably make a theme for it.

Thanks for not reading the comments. If you don't want a *false* positive trojan, either get an antivirus that isn't rubbish or don't use any of the exe files included. There are 100% no trojans in this download. If there was, this would have been removed from dA over a year ago.

If you feel it is unsafe, just use the actual icons and not the .exe's. Nothing in there is a trojan. It's a false positive. I used to use it every day, but you decide as it is your anti virus and your PC.

Ah! Don't get me wrong I was just reporting it because maybe it might need a revision, sometimes happens. I've been using it, it's a nice theme.

Sure thing. All I did was open up the .exe in Axialis Icon Workshop and replace the .icos with new ones. I did put a warning in the readme stating that these are actual modified .exes and might not work with your version. Kaspersky obviously noticed that they are modified and decided to take action. I, myself can assure you that I have not uploaded viruses to dA. I use this on my own system, which I would rather not infect with viruses. Of course, you can't take my word for it but there is nothing else I can offer you but my word (my NOD32 Anti-Virus doe not detect it as a virus if that helps).

I am assuming you made backups of your old .exes (like I suggested in the readme) and in this case, if you feel uncomfortable with these new .exe files I would suggest reverting to your original backups. The actual WinRAR theme will be unchanged, but your WinRAR application will have the old icons.

If I right click on a file the add to archive options/extract it gets black edges on the icon, but in the new menu it looks ok. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Looks great. High quality stuff if you ask me, but I swear this 32x icon theme is really 48x (and I know you posted it separate too).

Hey SpewBoy I didn't really understand the read me included in this download. But when you extract the files you get the Exe Icons folder and then you get another .rar file which is called WinRAR Win7 32x Theme. So I double clicked the WinRAR Win7 32x Theme .rar file and then it said it was installed and to go to options>themes>and apply it etc etc etc. But my confusion is, is that what do i do with the Exe Icons folder? Can i delete the WinRAR Win7 32x Theme? I just don't understand what the Exe Icons folder is for if the other .rar file did it for me. I hope that wasnt to confusing. Hope you can help.

The exe icons folder I think has exe files in it (I haven't used my theme for months or made one since then, so I'm not sure). These exe's can replace the default ones in your "Program Files/WinRAR" directory, so that your WinRAR has a nice looking program icon, as well as theme.

Although, I may be wrong. There may be ico files in that folder. In which case, you need to create a shortcut of WinRAR and go into its properties and change the icon to the ico(s) provided.

Or, I may have included both of these. In which case use either.

Hope it's not too confusing. I don't have WinRAR with me now and have no time to check what's in the archive I uploaded :D (I'm on holiday in a different country)

Alright, its okay, I really like this theme, and this may sound really stupid but, I am really good with grpahics and photoshop but I dont understand how to make themes for anything, for example, XP visual Styles, Firefox, WinRAR, etc etc etc. Is there someplace where I can learn how to actually make them into a theme for a certain program?

I learned by doing basically. So I would suggest maybe trying to theme WinRAR, as all you need to do is download a theme and then open the images up in Photoshop and edit them. Theming Firefox requires knowledge of CSS (unless you make a pretty basic theme), so I wouldn't recommend jumping straight into it.

So I would suggest extracting my theme into a folder and then editing the images until your satisfied and then packaging it up again and testing it out. Let me know if you need help packaging the theme and I'll try to remember how I did it (been a long time since I've worked with WinRAR themes).

Ok thanks, my largest question is, like if I made my own images in photoshop how do I actually make it so it would be usable in a program, like how to make it a useable WinRAR theme, or say for any other program. Also if you are good with Firefox themes, which I believe you are because of your 4.0 theme, maybe you could take a look at this theme I saw.

Well, for WinRAR you must save the images as .bmps with alpha channels. Programs like Firefox generally use .pngs.

What specific things do you need to know?
